How to compress large video files and convert files to MP4: Handbrake Tutorial

Handbrake is an open-source application that allows you to compress videos and convert them to MP4 format. We recommend using Handbrake to help better manage file storage and slow internet upload speeds.

Once the video file has been compressed, it can be uploaded into SalesHood to be optimized, then compressed for the best user experience on all supported browsers and mobile.

* We recommend to keep and use the standard settings as they are in the Handbrake app.

Please follow these steps to use Handbrake to compress your video file…

Step 1: Download the Handbrake app onto your computer (https://handbrake.fr/)

Step 2: Click the Handbrake app on your computer to open

Step 3: Upon opening the app select Open Source. You will be prompted to drop a file or select a specific folder or file from your computer. Choose the video you’d like to compress.

Step 4: Select the Destination where the new compressed video will be downloaded into.

Step 5: From the Format drop-down, select MP4 File. This will convert your video to MP4. You can make sure it’s been implemented by looking at the Destination File name.

Step 6: Check the Web optimized box because your video will be uploaded online.

Step 7: When you’ve customized all the settings to your liking and are ready to start the compression, click the Start button and your video will begin to compress. You can track the encoding progress at the bottom. (Depending on the video size, the encoding process can take a little longer.)

When the video is done compressing, you will be notified with a message. You’ll be able to find your compressed video in the destination folder you assigned!
